Dish Network (The Company)
 Dish Network is one of the leading satellite television companies in
the satellite cable business. Why? Due the fact that Dish Network is a
company of many “firsts” in terms of accomplishments; their standing
in the lead of all other satellite television providers can be
attributed to the continual provision of advanced technologies. Today,
exactly 24 years later, the company’s base is situated in Englewood,
Colorado and is home to nearly 20,000 employees.
Among the many achievements that Dish Network has established and
passed on to their satellite television customers is the innovation
behind the first UHF remote control in addition to being the first
satellite television provider to supply digital recording
capabilities, and the first company to supply cable solely through
satellite access. Thus, Dish Network rises above the rest in the
satellite television industry as a leading company with innovative
services that continue to evolve!
Dish Network began like any other company in 1980. Nevertheless, due
to the fine work of Charlie Ergen, Chairman and CEO, his wife Candy,
and associate Mames DeFranco, the business boomed in a relatively
short time, spreading across the nation in as little as 24 years. In
fact, it was only seven years after its initial inception that Dish
Network filed for a Direct Broadcast Satellite license with the
Federal Communications Commission. With approval, Echostar was born
and soon many more Echostar satellites were launched! In fact, there
are now nine Echostar satellites providing cable viewers with a
television signal! |
